Small Update on Production

Nothing crazy to say here, I just want to give an update on where we're at with production. 

I must admit it's taking a bit slower than I expected, so I do want to apologize. They've completed about half of the production, and their current estimate is that they will be done around the first or second week of May. 

To be on the safe side, I'm going to run on the assumption that they finish up May 15, and have everything packed and shipped by May 20. Freight shipping always takes a bit of time. My rough guess is that boxes should arrive at our doorstep by end of July.

Latest Samples are LOCKED!

TL/DR: As the Update title suggests, we've approved the latest samples and we will not pursue any further revisions on the molds at this time. On to production!

After long last, we finally got the latest batch of samples...

I truly do apologize for the delay. Our latest samples took a bit longer to arrive than expected. Our factory expected to have all changes to the molds done prior to the Chinese New Year, but they ended up needing to make final adjustments are reassemble the molds after they returned from their break. After that, our little package had a little trouble in shipping, and despite being shipped express FedEx was decidedly anything but express. All is well, and the samples arrived safe and sound at our doorstep. 

We've Arrived

An artist's work is never done, and I myself have to remind myself that perfect is the enemy of the good. We've made you wait through so many revisions and given the time it will take to run production, freight, and fulfill orders, I can't justify another round of revisions and several months more of waiting only for nitpicky details. I'm calling these samples good. I really am proud of the team of engineers who were able to take these models from pixels to plastic. Heaven knows, that the many tiny details and tolerances were not for the faint of heart and so I commend the mold fabricators on this one. It's time to push this baby bird out of the nest and let it fly out of the factory!

What's Next?

Mass Production: We are readying our production order now. We will be invoiced for the outstanding on the molds (now that they've been approved) as well as the deposit on our production parts. We can expect roughly 3-5 business days for a wire transfer of funds to be confirmed in order for the factory to start production.

We will update you with our factory's estimate on production timelines once production has begun. We will also be updating you on the progress of production along the way.

Freight Shipping: The factory will complete all production and then send everything over as one large bulk shipment in several boxes. This can take several weeks, but we'll be sure to update when they leave port and when they arrive.

Order Assembly: We've already taken care of assembling what we can without the final parts, however all that means is we have large boxes full of kits waiting to be dispersed into individual orders. Once we have the production parts from the factory in-house, we can begin final assembly on orders and finally move on to...

Fulfillment: That's it -- the endgame. We're gonna start shipping rewards - hopefully before the next ice-age.

If all goes as expected, we'll be receiving new samples in early February. Moreover, we expect these to be the last samples needed to approve production. With that being the case, we need to shift our attention to fulfillment and funding of fulfillment.

Backerkit will be Locking orders and Charging Credit Cards

Directly after sending this update, we will be locking Backerkit orders (for kickstarter backers) with a 48 hour buffer. Backerkit should email you a reminder to check your order with a notification that it will be locked. After the 48 hour grace window, orders will be locked and credit card processing will occur. I expect that since it has been some time since credit card information was updated, some cards may have expired. If this is the case, we'll be contacting you either personally or through backerkit to ask you to update your card information.

If you opted to pay for your add-ons and shipping on Backerkit through Paypal, then you have already been charged, and should not see another charge. Paypal automatically charged you the moment you finalized your backerkit survey. For anyone who opted to use a credit card, we had more control over this option. As such we decided to defer the charge until we could guarantee the quality of the parts and until we were ready to begin production.

Addresses

If you need to update your address, please remember that you can do so at any time through your backerkit account and survey. You should receive a notification from Backerkit that your order will be locked. You should be able to access your survey and update your address through this email notification. Apart from that Backerkit has no way of mass-resending all survey links to those who have already filled them out. For this reason, if you need to update your address,  please do the following first: search your email for the recent lock notification or for your original backerkit link or go to backerkit.com and sign in as a backer. Your survey for this campaign will be linked in your account overview. 

As a last resort if you cannot find the email that was originally sent to you, please send us a message or email, and we can resend links one-at-a-time.
